Wow this video made me craaazy amounts of nostalgic, I’m kinda sad I’m finished with it 😍
I’m feeling pretty good about my prediction right at the end though! 🧡
If only those fitness programs in the early 2000's could GROW the boobs ! lol
good message! thx
I highly recommend reading the book "Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia"
Siempre se le ha exigido a las mujeres cambiar constantemente, increíble. En resumen: Todo un siglo siendo sexualizadas.
Venus de Milo was the very epitome of feminine beauty in 100 – 130 BC. I still think she looks fantastic. But for some, she’s considered a fat pig by today’s standards. Meanwhile, Michelangelo’s David was a babe then – and a babe now. The ideal male physique doesn’t change much but the desirable woman’s body changes about every 15 years or so. If you’re lucky, your body type will be ideal at the right time. If not, either be wise and just be the best you can be or be stupid and try to obtain mostly unrealistic standards by unhealthy diets, drugs or plastic surgery.
I've been overweight nearly my entire life because of a mixture of poverty and thyroid illnesses. Despite being seemingly stuck in my weight, I've learned that I've never been happier then when I stopped caring. When I stopped obsessing over my appearance and a scale, and just let my body be the way it's meant to be, I never felt more confident and even healthy.
who else came from a school video lesson in health and social?
Really interesting. Like a school project.
but all those ones are getting plastic surgery on their assess…………thats not something most ppl waana do
this will always be my favourite video
My great grandma was born in 1927 and I can’t believe she lived through this bc she is 94 now…….
Honestly my favorite trend that’s going on rn is being strong and healthy vs just being skinny. As well as loving your body and not comparing it to other people. I’ve always had a sizable booty thanks to being Latina lol and I feel like some people take the booty trend way too far. I really wonder how all the booty pics will age lol
I have to admit growing up as a teenager (and on the slightly bigger side too but not fat) in the 90s was hard when you had skin and bones Kate Moss as the ideal. Unfortunately as a teen you don't always have the wisdom to know that that was just damn unhealthy!
I noticed that the skinniest times were associated with rationing or drugs, while the plumper look and exercising correlated to a better diet/more easily accessible food.
I'm naturally thin and have a natural hourglass figure and visible collar bones, but my parents call me "skinny" as well as my mom's family. It really bothers me because they also say it at school and I feel like they think it's funny when it's not; you're literally body-shaming a person just for being "skinny" or "naturally thin"
still one of my absolute favourite videos by you 🙂
People loves chubby animals but also people hates others chubby peoples.
Honestly the new trend should be that every body is beautiful and valued. We’re all unique in our own ways, don’t let social media fool you. What’s beautiful is how different everyone is, there is no normal or perfect in this world.
A healthy body will never be out of style
Fantastic video thank you so much!
0:49 "Every day we're exposed to a huge amount of images in different forms that have the intention of presenting what success looks like." –> Cue onslaught of images of sexploited women. I'm feeling like stopping the video now.
I just wanna say : All these trends were always built off of one woman. In the 1910 s, it was Camille Clifford. In the 1950 s, it was Marilyn Monroe. In the 1990 s, it was Kate Moss and in the early 2000 s, it was Kim Kardashian. People need to understand that every BODY is different and although some of us may look similar in terms of our figures and shapes, we can never just look like that one woman no matter how much we try. It's frankly impossible due to our predisposed genetics So all in all, beauty standards are worthless and we should rather just focus on other important things 🙂
Sorry but Kims body is not real
For me these trends never made me want to look like someone else – it made me unhealthily disappointed I wasn't looking like the better/best version of myself, if that makes any sense
The thing that hurts is that when my body was a trend (1920s and heroin chic…ie flat and curveless) it was more of a protest against what men liked than something that was actually considered hot or beautiful…ouch 😔
I wish I had this perspective younger. I came around during heroine chic when I had a Kim kardashian body. Sigh. Took me till the age of 40 to work with my body not against it.
