What if your at 20% body fat and want to build muscle. Should you eat at a deficit to reach 12% fat first and then lean bulk?

Hi Scott! Is it ideal to do just one body part exercise while at the gym? My previous trainer do this to me. I go to the gym three times a week, so say Monday is leg day. Thursday is back training, Saturday would be arms. And then the following week, I would train for other remaining body workout like chest, arms and shoulders. The only problem I could possibly think about that is the interval is too long for every body part. Is this okay? Or it is ideal to do train two body parts every time I go to the gym? I really hope you make videos about this topic or you can respond to my comment. Thank you very much! 🙂

Hey Scott. I'm 36, 6’0” and about 220 pounds. I'm getting a nice body shape, especially the upper body. Anyway, I feel I'm overweight and my body fat overshadows my muscle gains. I'm learning a lot with you as regards proper training but I can't handle nutrition (I don't eat junk food, my problem is the amount of food). I'm afraid that if I have a calorie deficit, I will lose my gains really quickly… I thought about doing a cardio cycle as you recommend but I definitely hate it… I don't use any supplements (I used to before but I prefer not to now). I'm really worried and not sure what to do… ;-(
Question i'm really confuse about haha sorry if i sound noob but im just a beginner. About the reps in each set. Example if im done with the first rep in a set of 3 in the bench pres, should i do other workout first before going to the set 2 of the benchpress? Or just rest for the required amount of tme to rest before going to set 2? Thanks

Just start of with 3 full body workouts or push pull legs for about 6 months. If you've been using push pull legs keep that program until you don't get any more gains, then switch to a 5 day split. If you've been using full body workouts, after 4-7 months switch over to a upper lower split. After about 12-15 months or when you feel you can't builld any more muscle with your current upper lower program swicth over to a bro split!
Scott, does it make sense to workout once every two days by doing a full body workout lasting 2.5-3hrs in the gym? This includes starting with a bit of cardio, then upper body and ending with lower body and core. This is assuming one doesn't have the time to go everyday or plan their meals for an everyday workout. Any advice appreciated. Cheers!

I didn’t eat s whole lot when I was young and I kind of regret it. Now I’m 24 and only 5’6”. I am not afraid of people taller than me beating me up because I train in martial arts but I feel like I could have been taller because my father is 5’7” and my mother is 5’6”.

I'm sure I'd be considered a hard gainer because I'm an ectomorph. I've managed to put on 7kg of muscle in 2 years, that first year or so of me not really knowing what I was doing lol. It's only recently I've learnt how to develop the mind-muscle connection and my training sessions feel a lot better (granted I had to reduce the weight) and I'm noticing improvements faster. 🙂
Watching these fitness videos helps me a lot though.
But Scott you said in another video that you should reduce your calories on days when you are not hitting the gym. But here you are saying that you should eat the same amount of calories and macro nutrient ratio whether working out or not. Could you please explain. Thanks.
