Thanks for sharing mike, I'm also a hardgainer that started with a small skinny frame but could never gain weight unless it was pure muscle. My body seemed to burn fat as its primary energy source. A gift and a curse really as I have a similar physique to yours however my diet has to perfect but tbh I see it more as a gift =)

i like the way you train, thats the only way i enjoy too, but one question, what do you do to maximize your recovery supplement wise? after a good workout im really sore for 2 or 3 days. id love to get some tips. thanks.

Mike since I've trained like you big rob and ct fletcher I have got stupid gains. I'm a hard gainer too. Right now I'm around 87kg and 10% body fat.. I was 93kg @14% body fat in 2010. I'm the same in a sense of if I don't train I go thin which happend as I didn't train for 2 years. Two styles of training I now know work… "Overtraining" and prison style training, both which I've experienced and reaped the benefits from. Now I got the whole gym watching and asking what I do lol even what I'm on. Cheers bro for inspiring all us iron addicts and being our gym buddy lol Keep giving us your knowledge advice and challenges and we will continue to live this gym life. Fuck the haters there only confused fans!!!!! Shouts from Stickz, London U.K

Mike big fan. If your not a hard gainer and looking to lean out what do you recommend different to what you do. Anything different to help the process along? Cheers

Hey Mike, did u ever get ur muscle genes results back?

Reply
Adam Amaya February 6, 2014 - 6:15 pm

Great info, just wondering if you trained hard with high reps and sets while you were first starting and not as built? Or did you have to wait until you put on a little mass before you can start training harder. I want to train harder and longer already, but I'm told since I'm a hard gainer that's yet to put on mass it's easy to over train and have an adverse effect on my muscles. An answer would be appreciated thanks for your time…

way easier for a fat individual to shed weight then a leaner person to gain good weight. i don't think a lot of cats out there understand that.

jahivah February 7, 2014 - 2:41 am

Mike definitely has great genetics. But even more than that he works his butt off. Much respect.

I've been training for about a 15 months now, I've been doing his style of training for about half that time and have seen a lot of gains from it. But it makes sense now because i also have the same thin built that he mentioned. This guy is definitely my biggest idol. I go into the gym thinking about how i have to get this level. Mad respect for this man.

Whats up Mike Rashid. I seen your overtrain chest workout and tried it for myself. The pyramid diaphragm of the wieghts was a little to much for me so I started with a warm up of 135 then did drop sets from 225 back down to 135. In all it was about 5 or 6 sets to failure. That worked great for me and I started seeing gains. I like the overtrain method and want to know what can I do to stay lean as in under 10% body fat.My height is 5'11 & my wieght is 208.

What do you think is better? 15 sets of 8-10 reps with 275 or 15 sets of 12-15 reps with 235 for bench?
