Fully agree about Aaron Baker. I remember, back in the day, reading my MuscleMag magazine and wondering why noooobody recognised him. He had the full package even crazy wheels. Glad you give him some recognition:) Btw. Another one I loved and noooobody talk about him anymore is Vince Taylor. I saw him in person when he was in his peak and mate let me tell you… his arms were "a sight to be Seen" 🙂 Thank for your videos!!
Baker didn't have any flaws in his physique. I would say him and Charles Claremont and Levrone are my favs. I also liked Mike Christian and thought he was a funny guy. Honorable shout out to Berry De Mey.
Looked great in the IFBB and WBF. Suffered for having left the fold and should have placed higher. Find it difficult to believe he is gay due to his involvement with Church but he lives in America so could be.
I think that Victor Richards was way more thick that Aaron Baker. I think Darryl Stafford was destined for greatness but didn't for whatever reason. Stafford surprised himself when he beat Shawn Ray in a show.
Nick….on you're list should be enough space for the Nr:5….. and that's "Edgar Fletcher"… He was a huge attraction back then in 90's. I met him as he was on Euro tour. 💪👽👉 https://youtu.be/PhVotT-CiCs
Nick, I use to "Bodybuild" back in high school (early 80's) and followed the sport at that time. I don't follow the sport at all in more. Nonetheless, I find your channel FREAKISHLY good. Very informative – THANK YOU!!!
Used to really like vince Taylor. Remember flex magazine had a pic of him training completely unposed in a sweatshirt that said "born to be huge" loads of people apparently wrote in asking if flex would make it into a poster to sell!!😂
Nick, Aaron Baker was the victim of Weider politics. He had left the IFBB to join Vince McMahon's (WBF?) Fed. It went pear-shaped for them all with Vince, then they asked Joe Weider to let them back into the IFBB. This included guys like Gary Strydom, Achem Albrecht, Eddie Robinson, Mike Quinn, Jim Quinn, David Dearth and Aaron Baker. Aaron was a fantastic physique but, after being fined by Weider to re-enter the IFBB, none of those guys ever placed well again. Weider penalised them for what he probably viewed as disloyalty. At his peak, Aaron Baker was reminiscent of Flex Wheeler, with Big muscle-bellies and sweeping, aesthetic lines. He loved Batman and always wore a Batman belt while training. A real character…
Aaron was trained a few years by my Taylor (who was José María Pita and worked as trainer back in end 80s and part of 90s and also was notorious bodybuilder in Spain with 190cm and 123 kgs in season). He always told me while working in the world gym near Miami that Baker had insane physics condition and was without no doubt the best guy he trained and also one of the bodybuilder he saw in person. No weak points but his personal life and decisions and politics in IFBB fu.. Ed his career, he could have easily a couple of Mr. O, no doubt. Old school guy, trained with tons of iron.
Nick. 212 was pretty massive on open class in some period, i'm just bored everytime you mention that. Lee Labrada got 176lbs and still made a huge success
I believe Aaron B joined a Christian church and is doing evangelical work currently. Also recall he was in the now defunct WBF (Vince M's plight to get into the bodybuilding world and it was a total joke). Aaron was no joke though. He had it all and was always a threat in any pro show. After the WBF 2 year stint, he kinda dropped off in regards to the bodybuilding scene.
