Scott I've been training for eleven months now and I always do 8 sets with 16 reps for both compound and isolation movements. Do you think this volume is good enough? Or do I have to add more? Or does it all depend as long as it's not too much or to few?

So my question is what if you grab a resistance band and anchor it behind you to add resistance like how you did putting the weight behind your head

Doesn't anchoring your feet encourage hip flexor involvement? Don't you want to avoid that and isolate your abdominals?

Would you agree or disagree with any of the following:

1. It may be healthier [for your back] to do crunches (hands folded across chest) than sit-ups (hands behind head).

2. Particularly for those with a history of back injuries, dynamically training abs in a manner that involves considerable back extension could be unhealthy because the risk greater than the reward
a. It isn't a particularly useful motion for many or most that translates well outside the gym.
b. Definition of abs is a greater function of body fat than hypertrophy for most

3. The concept that dynamically training abs is actually more dangerous [bold characterization that may be overemphasis] than healthy for industrial and sports athletes who must brace their core for intense and/or repetitive movements (i.e. voluminous or intense lifting at working) or intense exercises (e.g. powerlifting).

At the end of the day, back injuries are one of the most common injuries in industrial settings and sports. Static training of the abs [and entire back] may be more appropriate in that it translates better to most industrial and some sports athletes. It may be better to emphasize hip hinge and strengthen the core in a manner that is functional for these athletes and avoids injuries in AND out of the gym. As we get older (i.e. 40s and successive decades of life), recovery and avoiding injuries become the priorities. I understand we may not be the majority or even a large plurality of your audience.

Yo Scott dunno if you can help , but I’ve been seeing a lot of info saying sit ups are bad I’ve been doing kettlebell sit ups and it feels good. I feel my abs working , should I stop sit ups and crunches ? Are they as bad as everyone says ?

Can you suggest some fun cardio exercises to reduce fat percentage?
I'm asking coz many of the popular ways to lose fat is running, which is super boring.
The main reason I want to reduce fat percentage is to make those abs show.
PLEASE suggest some fun cardio

Don't do the sit ups with anchored feet. You use your hip flexors and thay combined with the floor produce an unhealthy amount of shear force on your lower spine.

I see what you mean with the pillow behind your back. I took this tip and finally tried doing crunches with a exercise ball behind me and I feel my whole core engage a lot more and it elimnates the hip flexors. This is awesome

Yo dawg you're the best trainer and it's rad that you're natural. You can tell in your physique and proportions. I always tell people to look at proportions. If you stay natural, you'll stay in natural proportions. The second the shoulder/waist ratio is thrown off… man, u on some sort of gear. Thanks for all the free videos and content G
